Here at Oval HQ, we’ve been on a bit of a hiring quest lately, which has provided us with an interesting opportunity to gauge how much the candidates do or don’t know about our company. No, we don’t make a point of asking THAT interview question, but it all comes out in the wash.

It strikes us that potential candidates (and clients too, actually) cannot always get a full picture of the work we do. It’s not that we’re lousy at marketing; there are other issues we need to consider. Issues to do with intellectual property, security, data, client rules about (not) endorsing suppliers (plausible deniability). Lawyers. You get the idea.

Our situation is reminiscent of a scenario that one of our clients once described to us. The client in question emphatically did not want his company to have a public-facing website! This was only about ten years ago, so this was a radical and potentially growth-limiting perspective. He wanted the company to have some level of mysterious allure; to be known as a well-kept secret.

We at Oval never set out to be a well-kept secret. We’d shout more loudly and frequently about what we do, how we do it and who we do it for, if it were feasible to do so.

So it is, that we find ourselves in a situation not unlike The A-Team* (bear with us – it’s not that tenuous)! We’re here to help and we love solving problems, but we do keep a modestly low profile. As the A-Team’s introductory narrative goes…

“If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… the A-Team Oval Team.”

Ssshhh, we’ve made it simple to find us.
