Camelsdale Primary School is the oldest county council school in West Sussex, first established in 1904. Deemed as ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED, the school has over 200 pupils, as well as strong links with the community at large.
The school asked us to completely redesign their website, to give it a fresh new look, new functionality, and to also make it responsive (to ensure it viewed beautifully on mobile devices). Special requests included secure areas for staff and governers, as well as a calendar and social media feeds. In future, the school will also be looking to integrate an online payment solution (for school trips, clubs etc).
We used the WordPress platform as a basis for the school’s new website, which is now bright and modern, as well as responsive. With a lot of information to be included – both at the will of the school and as directed by the DfE – a menu system has been devised which sets this out in an intuitive way, and a search function has also been implemented. Current parents have their own section where they can quickly and easily access information relevant to them, such as school timings, calendar of events, and forms. In addition, pupils also have their own area, with useful resources set out by year group. Password protected areas have been created for staff and governers. The school are using the site to host a blog by the headteacher, and the weekly newsletter will also be viewable from the homepage, in a bid to shift away from weekly emails to parents.
“Thank you SO much…for moving our school forward with our great new website. I have really enjoyed working with your company and feel that you have really listened to and worked with us well and patiently as it has evolved. You are a really professional team with a good sense of humour who gently nudge clients into the 21st century! Thank you”
